EDIT: This has been sitting in our inbox for a week- in the time since, we had our Gem pop up, which means this week of leisurely home cooking now feels very far away. We still have technically not broken our stride, though we did get McDonald’s one night at 2 am- surely this doesn’t count. (It was delicious)
This week is the first of our “January restaurant cleanse” (we even said no to a Superiority Burger invite…) / our post holiday desire to hunker down in our apartment. Early in the week, we went to the grocery store, after Sadie’s yoga class in a Bushwick loft (this will be a one time only- much too much talk of quantum physics/ self actualization via seasonal veg intake. A real Bushwick affair….). We were stocking up on basics- cans of tuna and tomatoes, heads of cabbage and bunches of greens and ginger, that we could stretch and use throughout the week. When we are cooking for ourselves, we crave extremely simple things, most of them revolving around a pot of rice. We will sometimes live out our tv dinner dreams, eating on the couch, while watching a movie or binging episodes of Friday Night Lights (Texas and Tim Riggins forever). This week, we watched Oppenheimer, or rather Sadie fell asleep two nights in a row trying to watch Oppenheimer (once again, too much quantum physics for one girl), followed by Priscilla (Anthony fell asleep for this one). Pure bliss.
