We have lived in our Bed-Stuy apartment for nearly seven years. Our landlords are absent, as the building is run down and owned by a huge conglomerate, so we have taken it upon ourselves to do quite a bit of home renovation, particularly in the kitchen, which has been completely transformed from when we first moved in and is, luckily for us, (relatively) spacious. When we had Covid two years ago, finding ourselves stir crazy and putzing about, we figured it was as good a time as any to remove the cabinet doors, paint them a bright canary yellow and redo the backsplash using tiles Anthony had found on Facebook marketplace, from an elderly man in Connecticut, a year prior. The shelves now expose the dozens of plates/ glassware/ collection of platters we have, ready for any hosting needs. Our kitchen is our favorite place to be.
